Overview
How do we do this?
A volunteer Board of Directors composed of nurses who are elected by FMRNA members from FMRNA's membership. This Board enlists the aide of other members to serve on various committees so that the decision making is constantly driven by what is best for and desired by the membership of FMRNA. The work of the Board is accomplished by working meetings held prior to and at the annual RPS meeting held every spring in Kansas City, one other meeting mid-year and conference calls as needed. Much of the work takes place within individual committees who then report to the full Board.
FMRNA was designed to give you - the family medicine nurse - a variety of professional opportunities not offered by other existing organizations. Specifically, the FMRNA, was created to:
- Develop and sustain a professional network for family medicine nurses in residency training programs that provide a forum for discussion of nursing issues, experiences, ideas, protocols and support mechanisms.
- Develop and define standards for support staff in family medicine residency programs.
- Provide its members with continuing education opportunities for professional growth.
- Recognize nurses working in family medicine residency programs as teachers of family medicine and part of the inter disciplinary team needed for optimal health care delivery.
- Encourage publication of materials written by or for family medicine residency nurses.
- Encourage and support research in the area of family medicine.
